Tricia Allen, the artist of the tattoo, has been a major part of the Polynesian tattoo revival movement, as a practitioner and researcher since 1988. She learned the ancient art of Polynesian tattoo for her master's degree at the University of Hawaii. Since then, she has been researching the revival of the art in the Pacific.
